Baron Brian Quein of Charlotte

Calling the southern lands of Charlotte, North Carolina home and the son of a professional Santa Claus, Baron Quein has a distinctive bearding pedigree that spans the last decade.

His valiant first beard competition was across the vast sea at the World Beard and Moustache Championship held at Brighton, England in 2007, competing in Full Beard Natural. Later that year he found that same community at home and joined up with the Beard and Moustache Club of North Carolina (which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year).

The Baron then journeyed to the cold north of Anchorage, Alaska for Worlds in 2009. He competed in Full Beard Freestyle, and it's there he found his competitive niche. He then went on to co-found the Charlotte Chapter of the BMC of NC in 2011, and has served as its president ever since. The club hosted back-to-back Carolina BAMs in 2014 and 2015 and continues in its mission supporting local non-profits throughout the region.

At the 2nd Annual Southeastern Championships in Charleston, Baron Quein introduced his famous “Electric Starfish” design, and has continued to creatively style his beard for dozens of regional and national competitions along the western and eastern coasts, whether as a competitor or as a judge.

Duke Daniel Cunningham of Knoxville
